Field Evaluations

Field Evaluations

The term “listed” is used 1017 times in the 2008 version of the National Electrical Code (NEC). The National Electrical Code (NEC) establishes the requirement for equipment to be approved by the Authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Most products manufactured today would show evidence of this acceptance by means of a recognized marking or label that would indicate that it underwent some means of product testing per a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) of which there are sixteen in the US.

Many AHJs across the United States have requirements for all electrical products to have some sort of independent testing laboratory testing or field evaluation completed prior to their allowance of the equipment or components to be energized. Southwest Energy Systems, LLC is a Partner Test laboratory (PTL) for TUV RhinelandĀ® of North America, which is an NRTL as authorized by Fed-OSHA, and can assist with local code compliance and field evaluations.
